Stairs are important in buildings because they help people move safely between floors. They come in many styles and sizes, allowing for different types of staircases that fit well with their surroundings. Discover 10 types of staircase options and choose the one that is best suited for your home.

1. Straight Stairs

In a straight staircase, there’s a continuous direction without any turns, making it ideal for both residential and commercial properties. If the staircase is lengthy, it’s crucial to break the flight of stairs to facilitate climbing. Having a platform in the middle of the staircase is strongly advised, particularly when the distance to the floor exceeds 12 feet. Straight stairs are typically the most convenient for ascending and descending, favored for their ease of construction, and particularly suitable for minimalist residences. A downside is that straight stairs occupy linear space, requiring careful consideration in design planning.

2. L-Shaped Stairs

The L-shaped staircase is a variation of the straight staircase, with a bend achieved by adding a landing, typically forming a 90-degree angle, though not necessarily. When the landing is closer to either end, it’s sometimes termed a long L staircase or a quarter-turn staircase. L-shaped stairs offer increased visual appeal and privacy due to the inclusion of a central landing, enhancing safety by reducing the number of steps in each flight and providing a resting spot before continuing the ascent, contrasting favorably with straight stairs. In an L-shaped staircase, a landing requires support, while modern homes often opt to expose the stair structure to enhance space openness.

3. U-Shaped Stairs

U-shaped stairs comprise two parallel flights of straight stairs that are connected by a landing, forming a 180-degree turn in the walking path. One of the biggest advantages of U-shaped stairs is that they can be integrated easily into the architectural design of the building, along with their ability to provide substantial visual appeal. Additionally, these stairs feature a landing that serves as a resting point within the staircase structure that ensures comfort while climbing up and down the stairs.

4. Winder Stairs

Designer: Royal Oak Railing & Stair Ltd.

Winder stairs, an alternative to the L-shaped configuration, feature triangular steps at corner transitions instead of flat landings. This design advantageously suits compact spaces, occupying less area, thus gaining favor in contemporary residences and sustainable home designs. However, caution is necessary while ascending these triangular treads due to their increased risk of tripping.

5. Spiral Stairs

Spiral stairs feature a compact design, following a helical arc where treads radiate around a central pole. They are ideal for space-constrained environments like city lofts, maximizing space efficiency. The railing significantly contributes to the stair’s aesthetics. Note that the central pole and landing offer structural support, simplifying installation compared to other stair types. However, navigating spiral stairs can be challenging, especially with a smaller diameter. Moving large items up or down is cumbersome, and only one person can ascend or descend at a time.

6. Curved Stairs

Similar to spiral stairs, curved stairs also follow a helical arc, but with a larger radius that doesn’t complete a full circle. Curved stairs exude elegance and are best situated at entrances, leaving a striking first impression, particularly complementing contemporary and transitional style homes. With a large radius, climbing becomes more manageable, yet construction proves challenging and costly.

7. Cantilever Stairs

Cantilever stairs give the impression of floating without visible support, with the stair stringer affixed to one end of the treads, which can either be concealed or exposed. They introduce intrigue and a sense of spaciousness to any space, offering a distinctive visual appeal. Enhancing the room’s openness and aesthetic, cantilever stairs require meticulous design to accommodate the necessary support system capable of bearing the staircase’s weight. However, their construction entails considerable expense due to the added structural demands.

8. Ladders

Ladders, akin to stairs, provide access, although they typically serve as secondary means of access. Commonly found in libraries and lofts, ladders offer a compact solution for vertical movement between floors, proving cost-effective. Some ladders even feature wheels for convenient removal when not in use and they are perfect for accessing shelves within double-height spaces. However, ladders pose greater difficulty in navigation compared to stairs, particularly during descent.

9. Split or Bifurcated Stair

Split stairs, also known as bifurcated stairs, typically begin with a wide set of stairs at the bottom, leading to a landing partway up the flight. From this landing, the stairs divide into two narrower sets, each going in opposite directions. This design allows one staircase to serve dual purposes, providing access to different sections of the building and facilitating easy access to both ends of the upper level. Split stairs make a striking architectural statement, often seen in grand entries of large homes or commercial buildings, suitable for both interior and exterior settings. However, they require a significant amount of space, which should be considered during the building’s design process.

10. Open Well Stair

The open well staircase earns its name from the space or “well” between the balustrades. Despite its extravagant use of space, when designed properly, it can make a grand statement in a home. It provides visual connectivity from the topmost level to the bottom level, irrespective of the number of floors it spans. One disadvantage is that an open staircase can be risky in the event of a fall. Additionally, open-well staircases also require a significant amount of space, hence, if you’re considering installing one in your residence, ensure you have sufficient room to construct it without it feeling cramped.

What are the different staircase materials?

Some of the common materials that are used for constructing a staircase include wood, concrete, glass, metal, and bamboo:

Wood

Wood remains a timeless choice for stairs, providing a cozy and traditional atmosphere to the décor. Common materials for staircases include teak, oak, maple, and mahogany. Due to the high cost of wood, it is highly recommended to consider laminate or engineered wood as more budget-friendly alternatives. Note that these two options of wood are made with composite layers of wood veneer or laminate finish that is durable and aesthetically pleasing too.

Concrete

Concrete, known for its durability and strength, is ideal for modern and industrial-style staircases. It can be poured and shaped into different forms and finishes, like polished concrete or textured surfaces. Additionally, the surface can be covered or clad with marble, limestone, granite, or tiles once the staircase is complete. It offers an elegant touch to the staircase design.

Metal

Metal staircases offer a modern and streamlined look and materials like steel, iron, or aluminum are commonly used for the structural framework, supports, and balusters. Metals pair well aesthetically with wood or glass elements, enhancing the overall appearance.

Glass

Glass staircases exude a contemporary and elegant vibe, enabling light to permeate the area and create a feeling of spaciousness. Make it a point to utilize tempered or laminated glass for the treads, balustrades, or railings to ensure safety and durability.

Bamboo

Bamboo stands out as an environmentally friendly and sustainable choice for both staircase steps and railings. It offers a highly sustainable and budget-friendly option.

Have you ever wished lawn care could be easy and almost effortless? TerraMow, the AI-powered robotic lawn mower, is about to change your life. Picture a world where your lawn is perfectly manicured without you lifting a finger. TerraMow is designed to take over the hard work of lawn maintenance, offering you more free time to enjoy your yard rather than laboring in it. Whether you have a sprawling garden with intricate landscaping or a simple, straightforward lawn, it handles it all with ease. Its advanced technology ensures every blade of grass is trimmed to perfection, navigating obstacles and tough terrain effortlessly. Forget about spending weekends pushing a noisy mower around. The intelligent system makes lawn care as simple as pressing a button.

Designer: Muxin

Click Here to Buy Now: $999 $1799 ($800 off). Hurry, only 41/300 left! Raised over $526,000.

What sets TerraMow apart is its wire-free AI vision design. Say goodbye to those annoying perimeter wires and RTK stations. There’s no need for manual mapping or complicated installations. Its advanced AI vision system autonomously maps your lawn, navigates around obstacles, and even cuts right up to the edges. Whether you have a simple yard or a complex garden with flower beds, bushes, and trees, expect it to navigate your yard like a pro.

Setting it up is a breeze. Just place it on the base station, which takes about five minutes to configure, and you’re ready to go. No complicated installations. TerraMow does all the hard work for you right from the start.

At the heart of TerraMow is the TerraVision system. This innovative vision system uses three high-performance automotive-grade cameras combined with cutting-edge AI vision technologies. It allows TerraMow to see and understand its surroundings just as you would. It maps your lawn in incredible detail, senses 3D obstacles, and avoids them in real-time. No more worrying about your mower bumping into things or missing spots.

Utilizing three high-performance automotive cameras and cutting-edge AI vision technologies, TerraVision enables TerraMow to navigate and interact with your lawn in unprecedented ways.

One of the most impressive features of TerraMow is its customizable edge-cutting. Traditional mowers, especially those relying on RTK signals, often struggle with precise boundary identification and edge-cutting due to signal issues. TerraMow, however, uses its advanced AI vision system to ride the edge of your lawn, achieving zero-distance cutting from lawn boundaries whenever possible. This means TerraMow can cut right up to the edges of your lawn, ensuring no blade of grass is left untrimmed. It precisely identifies lawn boundaries and can be customized to cut at various distances along the edges, adapting perfectly to the unique contours of your yard. This ensures stable and optimized edge cutting, leaving your lawn looking immaculate and well-defined.

Customization is where TerraMow truly shines. You can set different mowing schedules for various parts of your lawn, adjust the cutting height from 25 mm to 75 mm (1 inch to 3 inches), and even mark no-go zones to protect your flowerbeds. All of this is done through a simple app on your phone. It’s that easy.

TerraMow’s sleek, modern design isn’t only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional. The robust construction ensures durability, while the compact form allows it to navigate tight spaces with ease. Equipped with four key sensors—an obstacle detection sensor, a slope sensor, a rain sensor, and a tilt sensor—TerraMow is designed to handle all kinds of terrain and weather conditions. The obstacle detection sensor helps it avoid collisions with garden objects, the slope sensor ensures it can manage steep inclines, the rain sensor detects moisture and sends it back to the base station to avoid mowing in unsuitable conditions, and the tilt sensor halts the blades if the mower is lifted or tilted, ensuring safety.

Envision a mower that doesn’t just mow in random patterns but follows a precisely organized path. TerraMow’s visual positioning system, driven by visual SLAM technology, ensures it navigates under thick tree covers, roofs, or narrow pathways with ease. This guarantees precise real-time positioning and optimal lawn care even in the most challenging conditions.

Its ability to handle complex gardens is remarkable. Its precise visual system plans optimal paths, avoids obstacles in real-time, and delivers exceptional mowing results even in lawns filled with flower beds, unpaved borders, bushes, and trees. Its agility allows it to navigate through narrow passages as tight as 60 centimeters wide.

Not to mention, there’s also a feature that allows it to pause and resume tasks smartly. If it encounters unsuitable conditions like rain or low battery, it will pause its task and return to the base station. Once the conditions improve, it will resume right where it left off. This ensures that your lawn care is continuous and efficient, no matter the circumstances.

TerraMow automatically pauses tasks and returns to the base station when it detects unsuitable conditions, such as rain or low battery. Once conditions improve, it resumes the tasks right where it left off.

You can choose from different operation modes to fit your needs. The standard mode is perfect for mowing a single-zone lawn or segmented lawns connected by pathways. If you have dispersed and distant lawns, the multi-base mode will serve you well with one base station per lawn. For tiny dispersed lawns, the spot mode lets TerraMow handle the job instantly without needing a base station setup.

And for those who love having control at their fingertips, the dedicated app for TerraMow is a game-changer. You can customize mowing height, schedule tasks, monitor real-time status, use the remote control feature, and enjoy many other exciting options for a personalized lawn care experience.

TerraMow stands out in both connectivity and safety. Equipped with 4G cellular and Wi-Fi options, it allows for remote management and precise location tracking. Security is enhanced with integrated GPS and a 4G module, providing robust anti-theft measures. If someone attempts to steal TerraMow, its location can be tracked effortlessly. Prioritizing safety, it detects any lifting or tilting, automatically stopping the mowing blade to protect both the user and the equipment.

One of the coolest things about TerraMow is its ability to handle slopes up to 45% (or 24 degrees). Whether your lawn has hills or flat areas, TerraMow can mow it all efficiently. Plus, it’s built to be durable and waterproof with an IPX6 rating, so it can handle rain and humid conditions without any problems.

Ready to transform your lawn care routine? It’s time to let TerraMow take the wheel. Picture weekends free from the noise and effort of traditional mowing, replaced with the quiet efficiency of TerraMow gliding over your lawn, doing all the hard work for you. With its advanced technology and user-friendly features, TerraMow offers a seamless, stress-free solution to lawn maintenance. So sit back, relax, and watch TerraMow create the perfect lawn you’ve always dreamed of. Don’t wait—make the smart choice for your yard today. Simplify your life and delegate the mowing to TerraMow.

]]>

At the prestigious Salone Del Milano 2023 in Milan, Italy, the design lab HONOKA showcased their innovative TATAMI ReFAB PROJECT furniture series. This project, conceived by a team of forward-thinking product designers, leverages advanced manufacturing techniques like 3D printing to breathe new life into traditional Japanese tatami mats. The result is a fusion of heritage and cutting-edge technology that reintroduces the essence of tatami into contemporary living spaces.

Designer: HONOKA LAB

Tatami mats have been a staple of Japanese interiors for centuries, renowned for their aromatic qualities, humidity regulation, and odor reduction capabilities. HONOKA’s project aims to integrate these traditional benefits into modern furniture design. By blending recycled tatami with biodegradable plastic, they have created a sustainable material that is both adaptable and durable. This innovative composite can be 3D printed into a variety of functional and decorative home products, embodying the future of artisanal design while retaining a distinct connection to Japanese culture.

One of the key highlights of this project is its commitment to sustainability. Traditional tatami production often results in significant material waste, with nearly half of the plant-based material discarded. Honoka addresses this issue by recycling tatami waste and combining it with biodegradable plastic, significantly reducing the environmental impact. This material is not only eco-friendly but also versatile, allowing designers to explore new aesthetic possibilities and create unique forms that enhance modern living spaces.

The collection features several distinctive pieces that exemplify the versatility and beauty of the tatami-resin composite:

SORI and MUKURI:

These knitted tatami-resin furniture pieces reinterpret traditional Japanese shapes and textures through 3D printing. The unique structure of these items offers moderate transparency and varying visual expressions depending on the viewing angle. They are sturdy enough to support glass and other heavy materials, making them ideal for dining tables.

CHIGUSA:

Inspired by the traditional Japanese “Sen-suji” pattern, this stool combines multiple 3D-printed parts. The vertical pattern of the elastic and durable tatami-mixed resin provides a resilient and comfortable seating experience.

TABA:

A lighting fixture designed to resemble bundled grass, TABA uses a dripping technique in its 3D printing process. The tatami-mixed resin diffuses light beautifully, with light spilling through the gaps in its branches, creating a soft, natural ambiance.

TACHIWAKI:

This self-standing basin, inspired by the Japanese “Tachiwaki” pattern, features multiple stripes created by varying the purging speed of the 3D printer. Its water-resistant nature makes it suitable for innovative bathroom designs.

YOCELL:

A stool that draws from the traditional Japanese “Asanoha” pattern, it uses the layer marks of the 3D printer to create unique visual effects by aligning them in different directions. The modular shape makes it sustainable even for transportation and packaging.

AMI:

Combining the aesthetics of traditional Japanese 2D weaving with modern 3D printing, the AMI stool and lampshade feature intricate designs created by dripping resin from the air. The resulting pieces change their expression based on the viewing angle.

KOHSHI:

This lattice-like vase is reminiscent of Japanese architecture and allows for flexible plant arrangements, inspired by the art of Ikebana. This design has such a lightweight aesthetic, making any room feel airy. It’s perfect for minimalistic homes.

Saucepan Lid with a Built-in Chimney to filter fumes might be the most brilliant idea of the decade

]]>

Whoever invented this deserves a Nobel prize. Imagine being able to cook at home without staining your walls with oil, or without flagging the smoke detector. Meet Oilvent, a simple splatter-proof lid that sits on top of any pan you’re cooking with. Equipped with its own built-in chimney, the Oilvent filters and scatters fumes, while catching oil molecules that often end up creating grease-films around our kitchen. Instead of your kitchen needing to have a chimney, the Oilvent just directly puts one right over your utensil. It’s perhaps the smartest product I’ve seen in a while and costs 1/5th of what a modular kitchen chimney would.

Designer: oilvent

Click Here to Buy Now: $69 $139 (50% off) Hurry! Only 206 out of 700 left.

Think of the Oilvent as basically a portable chimney that fits on top of any cooking utensil you have. It has the shape and size of a large lid, sitting on small saucepans, wide skillets, or even large crock pots with ease. A mesh lid helps prevent splattering liquids from splashing out and onto the counter (or on you), and a handle focuses in on the center of the lid, which has a built-in air venting and filtration system. It’s a simple solution to a very common kitchen problem – smoke, grease, splatters, and VOCs. I say ‘simple solution’ because it’s so easy to visually grasp the two distinct parts of the Oilvent’s design… but on the inside, it’s a cleverly engineered chimney system that uses multiple filtration layers, and a powerful yet quiet fan that keeps your kitchen free of dense smoke and strong odors.

The Oilvent’s design truly evokes one of those “why did nobody ever think of this before?” moments. It comes with a lid-shaped form factor that also stands vertical, like a fan. This means, you can either use the Oilvent as a lid while cooking, or if you’ve got multiple burners working, just place the Oilvent vertically near your stove and it works like a chimney, sucking fumes from your stovetop in and filtering them out. For a more messy meal, however, all you need to do is lift the Oilvent and place it horizontally on top of your cooking vessel.

Place the Oilvent on top of your pan, switch the fan on, and two things happen – for starters, the Oilvent’s outer mesh layer keeps bubbling liquids or hot oil from splashing out of the pan and onto your counter or your skin. Simultaneously, the Oilvent’s mini-chimney gets to work, sucking air through as many as 4 different layers to catch grease molecules, charcoal soot, dense smoke, and volatile organic compounds or VOCs. The cooking fumes that usually happen during roasting, frying, sauteing, or reducing get turned into vapor – vapor that doesn’t stink up your kitchen, grease your walls, or trigger your smoke alarm.

The Oilvent’s large design means it can sit on any utensil comfortably without you worrying about size. Measuring 380mm or 15 inches wide, it works perfectly with all your utensils, sitting comfortably on top of their rim. The wide metal mesh serves an additional purpose apart from just containing splatters – it works as a sieve too, allowing you to do things like strain out pasta water, bacon fat, chicken/beef/veggie stock, etc. Use it just the way you’d use a strainer to separate liquids from solids… smart, eh?!

Four different filters in the Oilvent’s chimney help capture and purify fumes

The Oilvent works straight out of the box, needs no installation the way a chimney would, and can be used in both on-utensil and standing formats. A single button lets you switch the fan on or off, and toggle through 3 different speed settings. Even at its highest speed, the fan just outputs 42 decibels, which is around the decibel level in a library. Once you’re done using the Oilvent, simply detach the handle (which houses the electronics) and place the mesh in a dishwasher to clean it.

The Oilvent comes in one singular size, and runs on long-lasting 18650-type batteries. These batteries are rechargeable, offering more than 2 hours of continuous usage, and depleted batteries can be juiced in just 10-20 minutes using a standard battery charger.

Designed to practically replace chimneys, the Oilvent is perfect for small homes, rented apartments, RVs, hostels/dorms, or any place where a chimney is difficult to come by. It’s versatile, works flawlessly, can be used both standing/resting positions, and costs just a fraction of what a modular chimney would. The Oilvent’s filtration system should last as long as the product does, although the activated charcoal filter is the only part that needs replacing every 2-3 months. Each Oilvent does come with a spare set of AC filters to make things easier. The Oilvent starts at $69, and ships globally.

For decades, police cars have been an adaptation, not an innovation. Budgetary constraints often relegate officers to modified sedans, ill-equipped for the specific demands of law enforcement. But a recent design project by David Dahlberg, a graduate from Sweden’s Umeå Institute of Design, is challenging this status quo. Dahlberg’s concept car interior, envisioned for the Swedish police force in 2035, throws out the one-size-fits-all approach and meticulously tailors the workspace to the unique needs of officers on the go.

Designer: David Dahlberg

Dahlberg’s design directly addresses common complaints voiced by officers. Disorganized storage overflowing with loose equipment, cramped legroom hindering movement, and excessive wear and tear on the interior from frequent use were all major pain points.

The solution lies in a complete overhaul of the layout. Ditching the sedan platform, Dahlberg proposes a medium-sized electric D-SUV. This shift provides ample space for a more ergonomic design. The interior is divided into two distinct zones, each optimized for a specific role. The driver’s area features a streamlined control panel with essential functions readily accessible. Gone are the distracting infotainment systems found in civilian cars – this is a dedicated workspace prioritizing officer safety and focus.

Meanwhile, the passenger side transforms into a dedicated work area. Centralized storage with designated compartments eliminates the clutter of loose equipment, while individual compartments provide easy access to personal gear. A modular system allows for further customization, with officers able to add or remove accessories based on their specific needs. This passenger workspace even features a pull-out whiteboard, perfect for quick note-taking during field operations.

Technology is seamlessly integrated for maximum efficiency. Both the police computer and radio are mounted on a rail system, allowing officers to adjust them for optimal positioning. This flexibility ensures comfort and reduces strain, especially during extended periods on patrol.

The interior utilizes durable, easy-to-clean materials derived from recycled sources. This “circular” approach minimizes environmental impact, aligning with the growing trend of eco-conscious design. Perhaps the most innovative aspect of Dahlberg’s concept lies in its modularity. Each component, from the central storage unit to the passenger work module, is designed for interchangeability and easy upgrades. This not only allows the Swedish police to adapt the interior as their needs evolve but also opens the door for potential use in other professional settings requiring similar mobile workspaces.

Graters are often overlooked little tools in the kitchen. We don’t need them at all times, unless we’re in the mood to add some cheese to our pasta, or fancy up our meal with some exotic garnishes. And, if you’ve ever spend time grating, you know it is a tedious task, and requires some elbow grease. Graters are usually boxy products that aren’t much to look at, and are cast aside the minute their work is done. But we’ve come across a few fun and functional grater designs that beg to differ. From the world’s first one touch electric cheese grater to a mini handheld grater that adds a gourmet touch to your meals – these unique grater designs are far from ordinary and traditional.

1. Playful Palm Grater

Dubbed the Playful Palm Grater, this cute-looking grater isn’t just meant to be nice to look at. The functional little product will add some whimsical fun to your grating experience by fitting perfectly into the palm of your hand, letting you grate fresh ingredients and garnishes into your food with ease.

Why is it noteworthy?

The palm grater is built from a single aluminum alloy plate and resembles a curled piece of paper. It is available in a bunch of fascinating colors, so you can pick the shade that best suits your kitchen aesthetic, as well as your own personal taste.

What we like

 • The grater is equipped with a firm grip and is easy to use
 • Grating can often be tedious and boring, and the palm grater adds some fun to it

What we dislike

 • Since the grater features a compact size, it isn’t the best option to grate large quantities of food

2. Grater Rain

Designed by Jimmy Olnes, this is the Grater Rain! Meet the first and only handheld, one-touch cheese grater, which rains a heap load of Parmesan cheese over your food with one simple push of a button. It allows you to remove the lower housing from the refrigerator, and attach the upper drive housing, delivering instant grated cheese by pushing a button. It is the only grater on the market that lets you store cheese and chocolate in the refrigerator.

Click Here to Buy Now: $139 $199 ($60 off). Hurry, only a few left!

What we like

 • Takes 10 seconds to grate cheese/chocolate onto your dish
 • Eliminates all the elbow grease involved with traditional grating

What we dislike

 • The Grater Rain works better with hard cheese than soft cheese – the softer cheese causes remnants to stay in the product while cleaning

3. Avo Multi-function Veggier Grater

We found the cutest grater ever! Meet the Avo Multi-function Veggier Grater which slices, cuts, shreds, and grates your veggies for you in an easy and efficient manner. The handy little kitchen tool is shaped like an avocado and features a little area to collect all the grated food. The avocado seed functions as the grip for using the grater, allowing you to safely slice your food without hurting yourself.

Why is it noteworthy?

The Avo grater comes along with multiple blade styles, letting you pick different blades for different techniques – grating, slicing, micrograting, julienning, etc. The Avo’s base is quite bulbous which is excellent at collecting the grated food items, while a built-in handle lets you hold it with ease.

What we like

 • A sieve on the side lets you drain all the water out
 • Comes with detachable blade cartridges that let you use different techniques for chopping your veggies

What we dislike

 • It has quite an unusual and novel form for a grater, and some users may find it difficult to handle and get used to

4. Plate Grater

Named the Plate Grater, this compact kitchen tool resembles a little plate and can be placed on your dinner table or kitchen countertop. You can place the plate grater on the table, and utilize it to grate fresh ingredients and garnishes on your meal. The nifty tool combines the functionality of a plate with a grater.

What we like

 • Designed to add a sophisticated and gourmet element to your mundane meal

What we dislike

 • If you are used to conventional graters, it may take a while for you to get used to it

5. Barry

Designed by OTOTO, this unique little grater is called Barry! The playful and fun-looking grater looks like a grizzly bear, and its innovative back-scratching abilities let you grate carrots and cheeses. Barry’s metallic back grates your food items into a fine pile which gathers inside his chubby body.

Why is it noteworthy?

Once you’re done grating your veggies, lift Barry up, and you’ll find your grated veggies collected in a neat pile, ready for you to use for cooking. Barry makes grating really quite fun, and his adorable form wins him a ticket to your dinner table as well. He is the kind of kitchen tool that’ll definitely garner a lot of attention.

What we like

 • Looks like a bear, with the metallic back functioning as a grater

Meet Grater Rain, the first and only handheld, one-touch cheese grater. Simply push the button and rain heaps of Parmesan cheese over your Pasta and Salads. No more workouts every time you want to enjoy your favorite cheese or chocolate on your food. The one-press electric grater lets you simply remove the lower housing from the refrigerator, attach the upper drive housing, and push the button for instant grated cheese. Grater Rain is the only grater designed to store your cheese and or chocolate in the refrigerator, completely sealed in the housing. Three grater discs let you choose between fine, coarse, and shaved grating, and all you really need to do is hold the Grater Rain over your pasta, salad, pizza, sandwich, or frankly even your mouth as the grater delivers perfect Parmesan goodness at the press of a button. Swap out the hard cheese for a block of chocolate and you can use it over coffees, desserts, or a nice hot chocolate too. The entire process takes 10 seconds from refrigerator to grated goodness on your plate.

The Grater Rain automates a process that has traditionally required a fair amount of elbow grease. There was a time when whipping cream, mixing dough, or juicing fruit was done manually by hand… until the electric whisk, KitchenAid, and the blender made life easier. Grater Rain does the same for hard cheeses and chocolates, automating the process of grating or shaving just by pressing a button. The Grater Rain’s design splits into two parts – the container, which holds the food, and the motor, which gives you one-button grated food. When detached, the container should be stored in a fridge, helping prolong your food’s shelf life while giving you a convenient container to hold your cheese or chocolate. The motor, on the other hand, stays outside, lasting months between charges. Attach both modules and the Grater Rain is ready to douse your food in copious amounts of Parmesan. Press a button and it gets to work, automatically grating till you get it to stop.

Shaved Cheese!

Coarse Cheese

Fine Cheese

The lower container element comes with a nifty refrigerator-friendly design. A hollow interior lets you load the cheese or chocolate of your choice. Hard cheeses like Parmesan, Pecorino, Grana-Padano, or Manchego work best, and any solid block of chocolate will work too, as long as it’s right out of the fridge. One end of the container has a piston, which interfaces with the motor, and the other has the grating plate, which can be swapped out depending on whether you want fine/coarse grating, or shavings.

Various Blades

The upper element features a rechargeable battery-powered motor that works for 3 months on a full charge (that’s a LOT of cheese). A single button powers the entire device, and to get started, all you do is take the lower container out of the fridge, lock it into the upper motor, and hit the power button. The Grater Rain instantly (and consistently) grates over your food, with an enclosed blade design that lets even kids safely use the electric grater. Once you’re done, detach the lower container and put it back in the fridge – you don’t need to clean the Grater Rain between uses, like you would most traditional graters… and when you run out of cheese/chocolate, all of the lower housing components are dishwasher safe so they can all go into the dishwasher for periodic cleaning.

Chocolate Shavings!

The entire contraption stands at 8.4 inches tall or splits into a 4.1-inch container that goes in the fridge, and a 4.3-inch motor that charges using USB-C. The Grater Rain comes with a 3-year warranty, and the company even makes electric salt and pepper grinders that let you season your food like you’re living in the year 2040!

Click Here to Buy Now: $139 $199 ($60 off). Hurry, only a few left! Raised over $136,000.

Imagine a world where your family can enjoy clean, safe, and mineral-rich drinking water without relying on traditional water sources. The DrinkingWater Next-Gen 3-in-1 Atmospheric Water Dispenser is a revolutionary device designed to transform how we access water. By combining air-to-water, air purification, and dehumidification into one user-friendly system, this eco-friendly machine offers a seamless solution to meet your daily water needs.

Click Here to Buy Now: $329 $499 (34% off). Hurry, only a few left! Raised over $165,000.

Cutting-Edge AquaFetch+ Technology

At its core, the DrinkingWater dispenser uses cutting-edge AquaFetch+ technology to capture humidity from the air and convert it into pure, drinkable water. This process is efficient and environmentally friendly, ensuring that you have access to clean water regardless of your location. Whether you’re in a city apartment or a remote off-grid cabin, this device guarantees that you will never run out of fresh water.

So, what exactly is an atmospheric water dispenser? It’s a device that extracts moisture from the air through a sophisticated condensation process. Think of it as a high-tech dehumidifier that removes excess moisture purifies, and mineralizes the collected water. The extracted water goes through multiple filtration stages to ensure it’s safe and tastes great.

High Water Yield and Customization

One of the big features of the DrinkingWater dispenser is its ability to produce up to 19 liters of water per day in the Pro Edition. This is made possible by the advanced graphene material used in its construction, which maximizes the efficiency of water production. Even the Primary Edition, which yields up to 14 liters daily, provides more than enough water for an average household.

The water produced by the DrinkingWater dispenser is pure and enriched with essential minerals. The device allows you to customize the mineral content of your water, offering a range of options, including zinc, potassium, calcium, magnesium, vitamin E, and vitamin C. This means you can tailor your water to meet your family’s specific health needs, making it perfect for cooking, sports, and general hydration.

Advanced Air Purification with AirTure Technology

Water production is just one aspect of this remarkable device. Thanks to its AirTure technology, it also excels in air purification. This system incorporates HEPA PM2.5 filtration, removing 99.97% of harmful particles, including pollen, bacteria, and even COVID-19. By purifying the air in your home, the DrinkingWater dispenser ensures that your family breathes cleaner, healthier air.

Additionally, the dehumidification feature enhances your living environment by maintaining optimal humidity levels. The AquaFetch+ technology can dehumidify up to 790 milliliters per hour, swiftly reducing humidity from 80% to 60% within just 1.5 hours. This ensures a consistently dry and comfortable environment, preventing mold growth and other humidity-related issues.

Ease of Use and Safety

One of the most impressive aspects of this device is its ease of use. Simply plug it in, click the button, and enjoy free mineral-rich water. The touch panel interface is intuitive, ensuring that anyone in the household can operate it with ease. Plus, the rapid cooling technology means you can enjoy ice-cold water in just two minutes, providing instant refreshment on hot days.

Safety is a top priority with the DrinkingWater dispenser. The advanced six-stage filtration system guarantees 99.9% purity. This meticulous process includes a PP cotton filter, activated carbon filter, fiber filter, super filter, another activated carbon filter, and finally, UV purification. Each stage is designed to remove specific impurities, ensuring that every drop of water is pristine.

The UV sterilization technology is particularly noteworthy. A powerful UV-C sterilizer in the water tank eliminates 99.9% of microorganisms, including viruses and bacteria. This level of purification ensures that your drinking water is consistently fresh, clean, and safe for your family.

Eco-Friendly and Versatile

In addition to its impressive water production and purification capabilities, the DrinkingWater dispenser is designed to be eco-friendly. It supports solar power, allowing you to charge the device using foldable solar panels. This feature is perfect for those who live off-grid or in areas with unreliable power sources. The solar panels are easy to carry and can be set up anywhere, ensuring that you always have access to clean water.

The dispenser’s versatility extends to its applications. It’s suitable for a wide range of environments, from urban homes to remote disaster-prone zones. Whether you’re traveling by sea, where drinkable water is scarce, or in a war zone with damaged water pipelines, the DrinkingWater dispenser provides a reliable source of clean water. Its efficient compressors and graphene technology enable it to produce water even in extreme conditions, such as deserts.

Quiet Operation and Model Comparison

Noise levels are another consideration for any household appliance, and the DrinkingWater dispenser excels in this area as well. With noise levels below 40 dB (38 dB for the Primary Edition and 40 dB for the Pro Edition), the device operates quietly, ensuring that it doesn’t disturb your home environment. This makes it suitable for use in kitchens, offices, and even bedrooms.

Comparing the Primary and Pro editions highlights the device’s adaptability to different needs. The Pro Edition, with its higher water yield and larger UV-C storage tank, is ideal for larger households or those with higher water consumption. The Primary Edition, while slightly smaller and lighter, still offers robust performance and is perfect for smaller families or individual use.

Make the Switch Today

Make the switch to a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle with the DrinkingWater Next-Gen 3-in-1 Atmospheric Water Dispenser. Its ability to produce clean, mineral-rich water from the air, coupled with advanced air purification and dehumidification features, makes it a versatile and valuable tool for ensuring the health and comfort of your family. The ease of use, safety features, and eco-friendly design further enhance its appeal. Prioritize your family’s health and convenience with the DrinkingWater dispenser, the perfect solution for meeting all your water needs.

]]>

Moving into a tiny home represents more than just a change in living space; it’s a lifestyle transformation. The idea of downsizing can be both thrilling and daunting. For design enthusiasts and those committed to creative living, this process provides a unique opportunity to curate a space that’s both functional and beautiful. Drawing from experience and expertise, this guide delves into practical, design-forward strategies to help you declutter effectively and thoughtfully.

01. Start with Intention

Downsizing requires a mindful approach, especially when transitioning to a tiny home. Begin by envisioning how you want your new space to function and feel. Prioritize elements that serve dual purposes and contribute to your desired ambiance. This step sets a clear direction and makes the decluttering process more manageable.

For instance, consider the role of each item in your home. Does it serve a functional purpose? Does it add aesthetic value? Items that meet both criteria should be prioritized. This intentionality helps in creating a space that’s not just smaller but more curated and harmonious. An intentional design mindset ensures that every piece in your tiny home adds to the overall quality of life, making your new living environment both efficient and inspiring.

02. Embrace Multi-Functional Furniture

In a tiny home, every piece of furniture must work hard. Multi-functional furniture is key to maximizing limited space without sacrificing comfort or style. Look for pieces that offer multiple uses, such as a sofa bed, a fold-out desk, or a dining table with built-in storage.

A great example is the use of a Murphy bed, which folds up against the wall when not in use, freeing up valuable floor space. Similarly, ottomans with hidden storage compartments can serve as seating, storage, and even a coffee table. These smart solutions allow you to maintain a clean, uncluttered space while still having all the functionality you need.

The beauty of multi-functional furniture lies in its ability to adapt to your needs. By investing in these versatile pieces, you create a dynamic living environment where each item plays a crucial role in enhancing your space’s usability and aesthetic appeal.

03. Incorporate Built-In Storage

Built-in storage solutions are a tiny home’s best friend. They help keep the space organized and clutter-free, ensuring that everything has its place. Custom built-ins can be integrated into walls, stairs, and even furniture, providing seamless storage options that don’t intrude on your living area.

Consider installing built-in shelves in nooks and crannies that would otherwise go unused. Staircases can double as drawers, and benches can hide compartments underneath their seats. These built-in solutions not only save space but also add a touch of custom craftsmanship to your home.

The key to effective built-in storage is customization. Tailor these solutions to fit your specific needs and the unique dimensions of your tiny home. This personalized approach ensures maximum efficiency and adds a bespoke element to your living space, making it uniquely yours.

04. Maximize Vertical Space

When floor space is limited, think vertically. Maximizing vertical space is essential in a tiny home, and it can be achieved through creative shelving, hanging storage, and lofted areas. This approach helps keep your belongings accessible while maintaining an open and airy feel.

Vertical storage can take many forms. Floating shelves, pegboards, and hanging baskets are excellent for storing kitchen utensils, tools, and even plants. Lofted areas can serve as additional sleeping quarters or cozy reading nooks. By utilizing the full height of your space, you expand your storage capacity without crowding your living area.

An often-overlooked aspect of vertical storage is the aesthetic element. Vertical arrangements draw the eye upward, creating the illusion of a taller, more spacious room. This visual trick can make your tiny home feel much larger than it is, enhancing both functionality and design.

05. Adopt a Minimalist Aesthetic

A minimalist aesthetic is perfectly suited for tiny homes. It focuses on simplicity, clean lines, and a restrained color palette, creating a serene and uncluttered environment. This design approach not only makes your space feel larger but also promotes a sense of calm and order.

Start by decluttering ruthlessly. Keep only the essentials and items that bring you joy. Choose furniture with sleek designs and avoid ornate details that can overwhelm a small space. Neutral colors and natural materials, such as wood and stone, enhance the minimalist look and add warmth to your home.

Minimalism doesn’t mean your space has to be devoid of personality. Instead, it encourages you to be selective about what you include. Each piece should have a purpose and contribute to the overall aesthetic. This thoughtful curation creates a cohesive and inviting environment, making your tiny home a stylish sanctuary. Remember, minimalism isn’t for everyone. If you can find ways to creatively (and aesthetically) store your belongings, then maximalism may just be your style!

The Transformer Table seats anywhere from 2 to 12 people thanks to a clever expanding design

06. Select Timeless and Versatile Pieces

In a tiny home, every piece of furniture and decor must earn its place. Opt for timeless and versatile items that can adapt to various functions and styles. This approach ensures that your space remains relevant and functional as your needs and tastes evolve.

Consider investing in classic furniture designs that never go out of style. Pieces like a well-crafted wooden dining table or a sleek mid-century modern chair can anchor your space and provide long-term value. Versatile items, such as nesting tables or stackable chairs, offer flexibility and can be easily reconfigured to suit different occasions.

Choosing timeless and versatile pieces also reduces the need for frequent replacements, contributing to a more sustainable lifestyle. This focus on quality over quantity aligns with the principles of minimalism and enhances the longevity of your space.

07. Implement Creative Storage Hacks

Innovative storage solutions are essential in a tiny home. Creative hacks can help you organize your belongings efficiently and keep your space clutter-free. These solutions often involve repurposing everyday items or thinking outside the box to find new uses for existing spaces.

Magnetic strips, for example, can be used to store metal kitchen utensils or tools, freeing up drawer space. Pegboards offer customizable storage options for everything from craft supplies to office equipment. Hidden compartments in furniture or behind walls provide discreet storage for valuables.

Another effective hack is the use of hooks and racks. Install them on doors, walls, or even the ceiling to hang items like bikes, bags, and coats. These small changes can significantly increase your storage capacity without compromising on style or space.

08. Use Natural Light to Your Advantage

Natural light is a powerful tool in making a small space feel larger and more inviting. Designing your tiny home to maximize natural light can transform your living environment, making it brighter and more cheerful.

Large windows, skylights, and glass doors are excellent ways to bring in more light. Reflective surfaces, such as mirrors and glossy finishes, can help bounce light around the room, enhancing its brightness. Light-colored walls and furnishings also contribute to a more open and airy feel.

To make the most of natural light, keep window treatments minimal. Sheer curtains or blinds that can be easily pulled back allow maximum light to enter while providing privacy when needed. This approach not only brightens your space but also connects the indoors with the outdoors, creating a sense of expansiveness.

09. Personalize with Art and Textiles

Even in a minimalist tiny home, there’s room for personal touches. Art and textiles are excellent ways to add warmth, color, and personality to your space without overwhelming it. Carefully selected pieces can reflect your unique style and make your home feel truly yours.

Opt for artwork that resonates with you and complements your overall design. A few well-chosen pieces can make a significant impact. Similarly, textiles like rugs, cushions, and throws add texture and comfort. Choose natural materials and patterns that enhance your minimalist aesthetic.

When selecting art and textiles, think about their placement and scale. In a small space, it’s crucial to strike a balance between adding interest and maintaining an open feel. Grouping smaller pieces together or opting for one large statement piece can create a cohesive look.

10. Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Choices

Downsizing offers an excellent opportunity to adopt more eco-friendly and sustainable living practices. By choosing sustainable materials and products, you contribute to a healthier environment and create a more responsible living space.

Opt for furniture made from reclaimed wood or other sustainable materials. Incorporate energy-efficient appliances and fixtures to reduce your carbon footprint, rely on solar energy to help save costs while utilizing renewable energy. Efficient LED lighting, low-flow faucets, and energy-saving kitchen appliances are all excellent choices. Additionally, consider incorporating green elements like plants, which improve air quality and add a touch of nature to your home.

Moving into a tiny home requires thoughtful planning and intentional design choices. As you downsize, focus on quality over quantity that will enrich your life while allowing you to turn your home into an extension of your personality.
